Did you know that military around the world used airguns for training? I ran an airgun club for years at Kermit Airgun Club . It's quiet, accurate, and great for practice. You can even shoot in your home at a pellet trap (a good long hallway is nice). Airguns these days range from mild to wild. Cummings tool sales have a little china gun for $20.00 that can be a lot of fun and good for practice, and did I mention the ammo is cheap smile.gif Anyway, at the link above is the airgun club website that I run. It has lot's of information about airguns. It's just another tool for practice and you wouldn't believe what you can learn about ballistics, tactical scopes, adjustable objectives, and precision shooting just using an air rifle.

Using air guns makes sense when training in areas where someone may call authorities becuse of all the gun shots.

We've used .22 rifles in our training x's. Cheap to shoot and don't make a lot of noise. cool.gif

From my point of view using air rifles makes perfect sense. Unless you live out in the country, it is the one rifle that allows you to train at home. Aside from the fact that it is the perfect way IMHO to introduce children to marksmanship training.

Didn't think anyone would chime in on this post, but for $20.00 you can pick up a .177 airgun and drop it in the mud, crawl around with it, etc. and not worry about messing up your AR-15 or AK...and it weighs about the same. Good point about it being very quiet also. Thanks.

p.s.
your picture scares me smile.gif

I've shot one myself. Very fun and accurate. I've also shot a 20mm airgun. Wow, huge pellets.

As far as I know, there is only one. The barrel is from an Apache helicopter. Shoots hard and blows a full tank of air on 1 shot. The 20mm pellet will completely go through a big hog and leave a tunnel through it.

The gun on the Apache is 30mm not 20mm. I'd like to know how they got their hands on a barrel from an Apache, seems like that'd be hard to do.

Well, that's what I was told... a 20mm gun turret. Here is a link to a youtube video.

Looks like Apache does or did have a 20mm. here's a video of an Apache shooting one.

Did you look at the video title? "AH-1S 20mm Firepower (Cobra Helicopter)"

The AH-1 Cobra and the AH-64 Apache are completely different helicopters.

Ha LOL I have been to that range that the ROK helios are shooting at lol. And ya thats a AH-1 Cobra which is not an Apache in any manner what so ever, and yes the AH-1 carried a 20mm in some variants, and it would be easy as hell to get a barrel off of one, bone yards, surplus buys, the one sitting at VFW etc lol
